Colibri: head mouse for people with disabilities

O que é Colibri

Colibri, a head mouse developed to bring greater accessibility to technology for people with disabilities, is much more than an adapted mouse. It is an innovative tool that captures intuitive head movements to control the mouse pointer with precision, providing a unique and independent experience for people with disabilities.

Developed with the aim of improving quality of life and promoting inclusion, Colibri opens a world of possibilities for those who cannot use their hands. With this device, it is possible to control cell phones, tablets, and computers using only head movements, offering a new perspective on the use of technology.

How was the first Colibri head mouse born?

Colibri was initially conceived to meet the needs of Mikael, who faces the challenges of arthrogryposis, a condition that causes deformities and stiffness in the joints. Due to his limited mobility, Mikael adapted to using his cell phone supported on a table, using his mouth to press the keys, an uncomfortable and not very functional solution.

Faced with a lack of suitable products, we developed a prototype mouse specifically for Mikael, aiming to provide him with autonomy. Although it was only an initial version, heavy and with many wires, it was a success.

Through a process of sending prototypes to Mikael and receiving feedback from his father, we gradually improved the device until it reached its current form.

Now, Colibri is suitable for anyone with motor difficulties in their hands, offering a range of personalized settings. For example, users can choose to click the mouse by blinking, moving their cheek, or even just keeping the cursor still. They can also configure the cursor speed, range of motion, and more.

And why is Colibri so special?

Colibri uses intuitive head movements to precisely control the mouse pointer. In addition to its practicality, it is lightweight, wireless, has a rechargeable battery, and requires no installation on computers or cell phones – simply pair it via Bluetooth to start using it.

Furthermore, Colibri stands out for its aesthetics. Unlike other devices on the market that can be uncomfortable or aesthetically unpleasant, it offers color options for the device and the accompanying glasses, allowing for dozens of combinations. In addition, it can be easily attached to any eyeglass frame, increasing its practicality.

Its name, Colibri, is inspired by the agility of the cursor, which moves quickly like a hummingbird in flight. Compact, colorful, and discreet, it is ideal for all ages, whether for entertainment, study, work, or passing the time.

Designed for greater accessibility, Colibri is already accessible in itself.
